MISSION STATEMENT
Thomas Heyward Academy is a college preparatory school holding the highest standard of academics in the South Carolina Independent School Association.
It is our mission, in the athletic department, to hold our athletes accountable to the academic policies of our school. We believe that the student athlete’s academics should be of highest importance to them. Along with this focus, we want to offer a complete high school experience to our athletes as they work hard in each individual sport. Athletics offers each student the opportunity to improve in all phases of their life. There is no substitute for hard work, determination, and perseverance. These are the true keys to a well rounded and successful student.
It is our hope that each student-athlete will use sports as a tool to build character and an opportunity to improve on their understanding of responsibility and accountability.
This athletic department will live by the words of Cicero, “What greater or better gift can we offer the republic than to teach and instruct our youth”.
